45 ° herringbone paving
June 2015
A back-breaking project where I decided to learn how to pave using the 45° paving pattern. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
After a manic focus on the interior renovation of our house, it was great to tackle the garden. We really loved the look of old red bricks, but they were far too expensive for us. "Second" pavers look particularly good in this sort of pattern and have the added advantage of being far cheaper.
I tought myself a whole lot of skills during this project
- using a rip saw to cut bricks (130mm diamond cut blades)
- mapping out landscapes in 3d
- brick step building
- how to lay herringbone patterned bricks
It was great fun and backbreaking labour. I'd recommend it to anyone.
