A cubby to call home

Over the christmas break I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to build a cubby house for my two daughters. We’d read that kids get the most value from imaginative play around the 3-5 year old range so we wanted to build it now so that they would get full advantage from it as they were growing up rather than waiting a few years and having them only use it for a short amount of time.

Looking around for some plans I was surprised at how difficult it was to find anything I was happy with, or didn’t have to buy. Basically I wanted to build a cubby house on stilts but apart from a really modernist nordic cubby I couldn’t find anything with good enough plans to follow. I’d also decided early on that I’d use this as an excuse to practice the rudimentary building skills I developed while doing bits and pieces around the house.
